Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance's year in review

2020-2021 blocks someone is putting on top of each other saying review underneath

Taking COVID-19 on as a family each and every day

2020 was a year that we will never forget. Although 2020 had its obstacles, there were many highs to reflect on heading into 2021.

On June 8, 2020, we shared photos of what our employees’ work-from-home stations looked like. Like many of you, they had distractions including children, pets and partners throughout the day. Individuals had office spaces that included art murals in front of their desks to Christmas decorations everywhere.

We had many employees working from home, but we also had some employees who never stopped working in the office. We are thankful for all our employees and all the workers around the world who have adapted their work and home lives during 2020!

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance delivered premium refunds

On April 13, 2020, we gave back more than $8 million in auto insurance premium to our loyal Hoosier clients. For each eligible vehicle that was insured, the client received a premium refund of $20. We made a commitment to protect our clients, and the premium refunds were one way to do that.

At our company, we focus on creating quality and genuine relationships with our clients and hope it was evident that we are there when you need us most. We are glad we could give back to our clients, especially during a time of so much financial uncertainty.

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance helps our communities through financial donations

Also, along the lines of giving back, non-profit organizations were in greater need of assistance in 2020 than ever before. The impact of COVID-19 was substantial— on healthcare, employment, food supply and much more. Although Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance takes its corporate social responsibility role seriously always, we recognized that the need for increased assistance was imperative last year. In addition to our planned giving, IFBI also proudly made significant contributions to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Indiana-based food banks, multiple Urban League chapters, the Boys & Girls Club, and more.

At the end of 2020, long-time Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance employee and seven-year CEO, Joe Martin retired. Joe left a legacy that the company will never forget, and we are excited to see him enjoy retirement.

Kevin Murphy, who previously served as senior vice president of property and casualty at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, was named the new executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company. Kevin has already begun creating a philosophy at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance that is focused on a culture of being agile, innovative and risk-taking. He vows to be transparent with employees, as well as our clients.

Going into 2021, Kevin wants to highlight our company’s growth during 2020 while focusing on the long-term goals for the future of the company.

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance launches new mobile app

At the end of 2020, we launched our new mobile app! This application allows clients to manage their accounts at their own convenience. By managing your account online, you have the capability to make a payment, report a claim, view your digital vehicle ID card and access roadside assistance.

What the future of our company looks like

As we look forward into 2021, we have hopes of reopening offices and reintegrating employees safely into our workplaces. We have a great deal of gratitude for our employees, agents, community partners, members, clients, family and friends that have supported each other and our company this past year. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are far more than an insurance company, but a family protecting your family!
