Our 11-week paid summer internship program offers the best development experience possible by providing opportunities across the organization. We bring our interns together for weekly sessions consisting of professional development, networking events, volunteer opportunities and off-site field trips exposing them to many facets of the insurance industry. Interns spend each week working alongside industry professionals to gain hands-on, real-world experience. They are integrated into our culture and treated as Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance (IFBI) employees.

Experiences for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance interns

Historically, internship programming has consisted of insurance industry visits, field trips to Indiana farms, volunteering in the local Indianapolis community, after-work social mixers and weekly virtual hangouts.

We encourage our interns to job shadow other departments within our organization that are areas of career interests. This allows them to gain insight into our industry and acquire knowledge of other areas of the company.

The interns are broken into teams and given expectations and guidelines on developing their internship capstone project, which consists of creating a two-minute commercial for the internship program and the value it has added to their college experience. The finished capstone project is presented on the last day, and those videos are used to promote our internship program to future candidates.

The internship program has received recognition over the past few years as the 2018 IMPACT Employer of the Year and was chosen as one of the 2020 Elite 50 Internships .
