Indiana Farm Bureau to Promote Agriculture at State Fair

Indiana Farm Bureau to Promote Agriculture at State Fair Hero

Although fried elephant ears and saucy barbecue are big reasons why many people come to the Indiana State Fair, which will be held Aug. 2-18, the State Fair is special to Indiana Farm Bureau for different reasons.  It is a time for the organization to emphasize to the public the importance of agriculture to Indiana.

This year, Indiana Farm Bureau will continue two events that were launched last year: Animal Town and the Supreme Drive. In addition, there will be daily activities at the Farm Bureau Building where you can stop by to learn about Indiana agriculture and grab free popcorn.

Animal Town

  • Daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Located at the east end of the Hoosier Grandstand.
  • Discussion on livestock and public interaction with the farm animals.

Farm Bureau Building

  • Educational displays, activities, videos and exhibits.
  • Youth display to educate children on Indiana agriculture.
  • Free popcorn from noon to 5 p.m. daily, courtesy of Preferred Popcorn of Palmyra, Indiana.

Taste of Indiana Farms

  • Runs Aug. 13 to Aug. 15.
  • Presented by Indiana Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee.

Supreme Drive

  • Provides recognition to Indiana 4-H’s top breeding stock.
  • Recognition will be held in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Aug. 11 at 4 p.m.

With the goal of creating an impact, INFB returns to the fair each year to deliver programs that showcase its genuine commitment to agricultural education in Indiana.
