Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance believes one of the best and most important ways
we can “give back” is by supporting and encouraging the next generation.
Investing in our young people today is a solid investment in our state for
tomorrow, which is why our corporate citizenship efforts focus especially on
programs to benefit our Indiana youth.
Our Company’s flagship youth program is the eXceL Awards,
which recognizes and awards scholarship money to Indiana teens who shine in
creative and performing arts. The eXceL Awards Program has been presented and
funded by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since 1989.
“The eXceL Awards program allows us to see the creativity, the depth, the faith
of our next generation,” says Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Sr. VP of Marketing
Patty Poehler. “It is abundantly clear that our future is in good hands.”
Some students are talented performers or artists; other students are
outstanding athletes or participate in leadership and citizenship activities.
We recognize that young people have gifts in many different areas, and we know
that they need our support during important times of transition. Some other
youth programs Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance supports are listed below. You can
find even more information about Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance’s commitment to
corporate citizenship on the
Serving Our Community page.
For more details on how you or your teen can become involved in these programs,
please contact your local Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance office.

offer a $1000 U.S. Savings Bond to those who enroll in the program and meet all
of the requirements.

Indiana State Fair, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Celebration
Park
In 2004, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance became the first major corporate donor
to aid the Indiana State Fair’s renovation of the 4-H Education Complex. The Indiana State Fair Commission has named the complex’s grounds “Farm Bureau
Insurance Celebration Park.”
“Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance’s substantial, long-term commitment to this
project reflects our focus on providing education and opportunity for the young
people of our state,” Indiana Farm Bureau President Don Villwock says. “In
doing so, we know we also are providing for a bright, stable future for all
Hoosiers.”

Gameplan for Life
Since 2001, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, in partnership with the Indianapolis
Colts, has encouraged Hoosier students in grades six, seven, and eight to
formulate a “Gameplan for Life” by focusing on setting challenging goals for
themselves. The goals of the Gameplan for Life competition are to inspire
students to make wise life decisions and formulate objectives for their
futures. Students who participate are asked to develop their own goals for the
future and submit their Gameplan for Life. Winners of the competition win
tickets to an Indianapolis Colts game and are honored with an award signed by
Colts team members.

Amber Alert
On October 1, 2002, Indiana joined the ranks of several other states that have
activated a statewide Amber Alert system. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is
proud to partner with the State of Indiana to sponsor Amber Alert Indiana. The
Amber Alert system was created to expedite the investigation into the
abductions of children.
Our Company underwrites the cost of the toll-free telephone line that is used
to collect tips from the public once an Amber Alert is issued. In addition, we
print brochures about Amber Alert Indiana (Spanish and English versions are
both available) and provide those to individuals and groups promoting the
program.

IFBI Ad by Ben Sunderlin
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance commissioned former eXceL Award Winner, Ben
Sunderlin, to create an advertisement that focused on our roots in Indiana and
the growth we have seen to the present day.
Ben, a recent Lafayette Jefferson High School graduate, created this piece
called “Evolution.” It evokes a sense of nostalgia in the top left corner with
images representative of Indiana in the 1930s. The design then winds down and
around to show the progression and evolution of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance
as a company and the products and services that we provide.
Ben won the 2-D Category of our eXceL Awards in 2005 with a piece entitled
“Rembrandt’s Frustration.” The eXceL Awards is a creative arts competition by
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, allowing high school authors, poets, artists,
songwriters, filmmakers and performers the opportunity to express themselves on
topics of interest and vital importance to Indiana teenagers.
